Probability & Tree Diagrams
6 lessons, about 14 days with the quiz, review and test, in one download: Probability Scale 0 to 1, Experimental & Theoretical Probability, Probability Models, Sample Spaces, Compound Events, Simulations.
6 lessons, in teaching order
Built to 7.SP.C.5, 7.SP.C.6, 7.SP.C.7, 7.SP.C.8b, 7.SP.C.8, 7.SP.C.8c. Each lesson has guided notes, practice, an exit ticket, a homework page, worked answer keys and a click-by-click Teacher Deck.
- Lesson 1 Probability Scale 0 to 1 I can place an event's probability on a scale from 0 to 1, describe it as impossible, unlikely, equally likely, likely or certain, and compare how likely two events are.
- Lesson 2 Experimental & Theoretical Probability I can find a theoretical probability from equally likely outcomes and an experimental probability from data, use each to predict, and explain why the two differ and how more trials bring them closer.
- Lesson 3 Probability Models I can build a probability model, uniform or from data, check that its probabilities total 1, and use it to find the probability of an event.
- Lesson 4 Sample Spaces I can list every outcome of an experiment in stages with an organized list, a table or a tree diagram, find how many there are by multiplying the stage counts, and count the outcomes in an event.
- Lesson 5 Compound Events I can find the probability of a compound event by listing its sample space in a list, a table or a tree diagram, with the first item put back or not.
- Lesson 6 Simulations I can choose random digits or coin flips that match each part's chance, make one trial one draw for each part, and count the whole trials in which the event happens to estimate its probability.
