11 lessons, in teaching order
Built to 7.G.A.1, 7.G.A.2, 7.G.B.5, 7.G.B.4, 7.G.A.3, 7.G.B.6. Each lesson has guided notes, practice, an exit ticket, a homework page, worked answer keys and a click-by-click Teacher Deck.
- Lesson 1 Scale Drawings I can use the scale of a drawing, map or plan to find real lengths and drawing lengths, find real areas from a drawing, and reproduce a drawing at a different scale.
- Lesson 2 Redrawing at a New Scale I can reproduce a scale drawing at a different scale: keep the real lengths, find each new drawing length (or one factor for every length), check whether the copy should be longer or shorter, and find a new scale from a new length.
- Lesson 3 Triangle Inequality I can decide whether three side lengths can make a triangle by testing the two shorter sides against the longest, and find the range of lengths for an unknown third side.
- Lesson 4 Angle Relationships I can name complementary, supplementary, vertical and adjacent angles, write an equation for an unknown angle, solve it, and find the angle's measure.
- Lesson 5 Writing and Solving Angle Equations I can write one equation that adds every angle that fills a straight line, a right angle, the space around a point or a split angle, solve it for x, and put x back into each expression to find the angles.
- Lesson 6 Circumference & Area of Circles I can find the circumference and the area of a circle with C = πd and A = πr², using 3.14 or leaving the answer in terms of π.
- Lesson 7 Circle Word Problems I can read a circle story to decide whether it asks for a length around the circle or the space inside it, tell whether it gives the radius or the diameter, and answer in the form the problem asks for.
- Lesson 8 Cross-Sections of 3D Figures I can describe the flat shape I get when a plane slices a box or a pyramid, give its size and find its area.
- Lesson 9 Volume of Prisms I can find a right prism's two matching ends, find the area of one (a triangle or a trapezoid), and multiply by the distance between the ends: V = B × h, even when the prism lies on a side face.
- Lesson 10 Surface Area of Prisms and Pyramids I can make a face list from the net of a triangular prism or a square pyramid, find each face's area, and add every face exactly once.
- Lesson 11 Composite Area, Volume & Surface Area I can find the area of a composite figure, the volume of a right prism or a composite solid, and the surface area of a solid built from pieces.
