Multiplication understood as adding the same number repeatedly.

Examples

  • 3 × (-2) = (-2) + (-2) + (-2) = -6.
  • 4 × 3 = 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 12.

Key rule

Multiplying a positive by a negative makes repeated negative jumps.
