One-Step Equations, Inequalities
8 lessons, about 18 days with the quiz, review and test, in one download: Solutions to Equations & Writing Equations, Solving One-Step Equations, Writing Equations from Word Problems, Equations with Fractions and Decimals, Inequalities & Their Graphs, Writing Inequalities from Context, Independent vs. Dependent Variables, Tables, Graphs and Equations.
8 lessons, in teaching order
Built to 6.EE.B.5, 6.EE.B.6, 6.EE.B.7, 6.EE.B.8, 6.EE.C.9. Each lesson has guided notes, practice, an exit ticket, a homework page, worked answer keys and a click-by-click Teacher Deck.
- Lesson 1 Solutions to Equations & Writing Equations I can decide which values make an equation or inequality true by putting each value in for the letter, and use a letter for the unknown number when I write an equation for a real-world problem.
- Lesson 2 Solving One-Step Equations I can solve one-step equations such as x + p = q and px = q by using the inverse operation, including decimals and fractions, and check each solution by putting it back into the equation.
- Lesson 3 Writing Equations from Word Problems I can write an equation that follows a story in order, with a letter for the unknown and = for the result the story gives, then solve it and answer the question in a sentence with a unit.
- Lesson 4 Equations with Fractions and Decimals I can solve one-step equations with fractions, mixed numbers and decimals by undoing what is done to the letter, then check that the solution has a sensible size and makes the equation true.
- Lesson 5 Inequalities & Their Graphs I can write an inequality such as x > c or x < c for a limit or a minimum in a real-world problem, graph its solutions on a number line, and explain why it has infinitely many solutions.
- Lesson 6 Writing Inequalities from Context I can write an inequality such as x > c or x ≤ c for a rule in a real-world problem, by finding the boundary, deciding which side is allowed and testing whether the boundary itself is allowed.
- Lesson 7 Independent vs. Dependent Variables I can tell the independent variable from the dependent variable in a real-world relationship, write an equation for the dependent variable in terms of the independent one, and connect the equation to a table and a graph.
- Lesson 8 Tables, Graphs and Equations I can show one relationship in three views, a table, a graph and an equation such as y = x + (a number) or y = (a number) × x, by testing whether every y is its x plus or times the same number, and by turning each pair into a point.
