Integers & the Coordinate Plane
8 lessons, about 17 days with the quiz, review and test, in one download: Positive & Negative Numbers in Context, Opposites on the Number Line, Comparing & Ordering Rationals, Absolute Value, Absolute Value in Context, The Coordinate Plane, Rationals on the Number Line & Coordinate Plane, Reflections on the Coordinate Plane, Real-World Problems on the Coordinate Plane.
8 lessons, in teaching order
Built to 6.NS.C.5, 6.NS.C.6a, 6.NS.C.7, 6.NS.C.7c, 6.NS.C.7d, 6.NS.C.6b, 6.NS.C.6c, 6.NS.C.8. Each lesson has guided notes, practice, an exit ticket, a homework page, worked answer keys and a click-by-click Teacher Deck.
- Lesson 1 Positive & Negative Numbers in Context I can use positive and negative numbers to describe quantities in opposite directions, explain what 0 means in the situation, and find the opposite of a number.
- Lesson 2 Opposites on the Number Line I can read a minus sign as “the opposite of”, flip a number across 0 once for each sign, and explain why the opposite of the opposite of a number is the number itself and 0 is its own opposite.
- Lesson 3 Comparing & Ordering Rationals, Absolute Value I can compare and order rational numbers using their positions on a number line, and find absolute value as a number's distance from 0.
- Lesson 4 Absolute Value in Context I can use absolute value to tell the size of a positive or negative amount in a real situation, say it in words with its unit, and explain why a balance less than −$30 is a debt greater than $30.
- Lesson 5 The Coordinate Plane I can use the signs of an ordered pair to name its quadrant, and find a point's reflection across the x-axis, the y-axis or both.
- Lesson 6 Rationals on the Number Line & Coordinate Plane I can find and place rational numbers (fractions, decimals and negative numbers) on a number line, and find and plot points with rational coordinates on the coordinate plane.
- Lesson 7 Reflections on the Coordinate Plane I can reflect a point across one axis by deciding which coordinate runs along the mirror and which runs across it, find a point from its image, and name the axis two points are reflected across.
- Lesson 8 Real-World Problems on the Coordinate Plane I can solve real-world problems on the coordinate plane by finding the distance between two points that share a coordinate, using absolute value.
