Rise Over Run
8.EE.B.6
Definition
A method for finding slope by counting the vertical change (rise) and horizontal change (run) between two points on a line, then dividing rise by run.
Examples
- Rise 3, run 4 gives a slope of 3/4.
- Count the rise first (up/down), then the run (always to the right).
Key rule
Slope = rise ÷ run.
