Model Fit
8.SP.A.2
Definition
A measure of how well a line or curve matches the data it represents. Points clustered closely around the line indicate a strong fit; widely scattered points indicate a weak fit.
Examples
- Points close to the line show a strong fit.
- Points scattered widely show a weak fit.
Key rule
The smaller the gaps between points and the line, the better the fit.
Memory hook
How closely the line matches the data.
