Conditional Frequency
8.SP.A.4
Definition
A relative frequency calculated within a single row or column of a two-way table, showing the proportion of one category given another.
Examples
- Of those who like dogs (35 total), 20 also like cats: 20/35 ≈ 57%.
- This is out of the row total, not the grand total.
Key rule
A conditional frequency answers 'given this category, what fraction are also...?'
Memory hook
A fraction within one row or column, not the whole table.
