Marginal Frequency

Definition
A row or column total in a two-way table, found in the margins. It gives the overall count for a single category, ignoring the other variable.
Examples
- 35 people like dogs in total (20 who also like cats + 15 who don't).
- Marginal = edge total (one variable); joint = inner cell (both variables).
Key rule
A marginal frequency is a total in the margins of the table.
