Definition

A whole number, its opposite, or zero; the set ..., -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, ...

Examples

  • -2, 0, and 5 are integers.
  • 1/2 and 0.5 are NOT integers — no fractions or decimals allowed.

Key rule

Integers include whole numbers and their opposites, but never fractions or decimals.
