Definition
The measure of space inside a 3D solid. For a rectangular prism: V = l × w × h = B × h. Measured in cubic units (cm3, m3, in3, ft3).
Examples
- V = 5 × 4 × 3 = 60 m3.
- Count unit cubes: 5 × 4 × 3 = 60 cubes, each 1 m3.
Key rule
Volume is 3D and cubic; surface area is 2D and square — like the difference between wrapping paper and what fits inside.
