Turning Point
8.F.B.5
Definition
A point where a graph changes direction, switching from increasing to decreasing or from decreasing to increasing. Straight lines have none.
Examples
- A graph that goes up then down has a turning point at the top.
- Turning points appear in nonlinear graphs, not straight lines.
Key rule
Linear graphs have no turning points — they go one direction forever.
