Definition
A ratio comparing a quantity to 100 ('per hundred'). A rational number can be written as a fraction, decimal, or percent — all three are equivalent forms.
Examples
- 3/4 = 0.75 = 75%.
- 70% = 70/100 = 0.70.
Key rule
Percent is just a fraction with a denominator of 100.
