Equivalent Expressions
6.EE.A.4
Definition
Expressions that always have the same value no matter what number the variable is.
Examples
- 2(x + 3) = 2x + 6 — same value for every x.
- At x = 4: 2(4+3) = 14 and 2(4)+6 = 14 — they match.
Key rule
Equivalent expressions give the same result for every value of the variable.
