Definition
A grid formed by a horizontal x-axis and vertical y-axis, used to locate points.
Examples
- To plot (4, 3), move 4 units right along the x-axis, then 3 units up along the y-axis.
- 5th grade uses only the first quadrant, where both coordinates are positive.

The x-axis and y-axis form a grid to plot points, meeting at the origin.
