For (x + 4)(x + 6), a student multiplies only the firsts and the lasts.

The mistakes it targets

• Multiplies only the first terms and the last terms
• Drops the minus of a negative term in one of its products
• Treats a negative times a negative as negative
• Multiplies the exponents instead of adding them
