Definition
The average of a data set, found by adding all values and dividing by the number of values.
Examples
- 2+4+5+6+8 = 25, and 25 ÷ 5 = 5. The mean is 5.
- The mean 'evens out' the data into a fair share.
Key rule
Mean = sum of values ÷ number of values.
Memory hook
Add them all up, divide by how many.
