Definition

A specific outcome or set of outcomes from a probability experiment. Written using set notation. P(event) = favorable outcomes ÷ total outcomes in the sample space.

Examples

  • A simple event has exactly one outcome, like {rolling a 3}.

Key rule

An event is a subset of the sample space.

Memory hook
