Center of Dilation

Definition

The fixed point from which a figure is enlarged or reduced. Each point moves along a ray from this center, scaled by the scale factor.

Examples

  • If the center is the origin, multiply each coordinate by the scale factor.
  • Distance to the image = scale factor × distance to the preimage.
